When I was 16 I went halfway around the world. As a mom to a young daughter I cringe now to think about it. And yet, the experience was invaluable and the memories are going to last me a lifetime.

The holidays mean many things to many people, but the main theme of the season seems to center around one thing: family. This is all fine and dandy if you have a traditional family, but if not, there is absolutely no reason to sit around feeling lonely at Christmas.
