In the beginning your husband (more likely just your boyfriend at that point) is the most amazing man ever. He can do no wrong. Then small things about him start to bug you, but you’re so in love you can overlook it all. Then the annoyances become more obvious, but you’re determined to make the best of the situation and teach him to be the best he can be. But eventually you get to the point in your relationship where you realize that despite your best efforts, the reality is your husband has certain traits and habits that annoy you.
Husbands are annoying (so are wives but that’s beside the point). If you can’t change it then it’s time to celebrate it. Sure, there are some things that are beyond annoying (and for those traits obviously looking for the bright side isn’t going to help), but for most quirks some level of entertainment can be gleaned from the annoyance. The only way to deal with it is to find your husband endearing and amusing, especially his quirks.
Can You Find the Humor?
Think about what it is that annoys you about him. Is it even a little bit funny? Step back and think about if one of your girlfriends were to tell you her husband does this. Would you laugh? Would you be appalled? Would you be both appalled but be laughing? And would you try your hardest to help your friend look for the best in her husband? Sometimes we just have to take a step out of our lives and take the perspective of an outsider in order to find the humor in a situation.
Did You Once Think It Was Cute?
Sometimes what was once considered cute becomes the biggest annoyance. Maybe it is misplaced frustration that has caused the irritation to grow. Or perhaps it’s too much of a good thing. Whatever the cause, take a moment and reflect, “Did I once find this cute?” Relive the past and figure out why you thought it was cute back then. Could there be even a glimmer of hope that it is still cute?
Take a Break
Taking a break from your husband and his behavior can be the cure all leading to finding him endearing and amusing, annoying traits and all. Get some time with your girlfriends (not your man bashing girlfriends though, they’ll only make your more frustrated with your husband) and spend some time simply having fun. This break will help with your overall stress levels, it’ll fill your need for girlfriend time, and revive your patience for your husband.
Go On a Date
This may seem counter-intuitive but going out on a date (or a romantic weekend getaway) with your husband can actually help you find him endearing overall and lessen the annoying factor of the traits you don’t like. By seeing more of his good side, which automatically comes out when you’re having fun together just the two of you, it counteracts the bad stuff. Plus it could be that you’re finding him more annoying simply because you’re spending too much time hanging out around the house doing mundane tasks rather than actually having fun and reveling in romance.
If All Else Fails
Remember that all husbands are annoying (and once again… all wives are too). We’re all human. We’re all quirky. And if you think that’s not true all you have to do is surf around the blogosphere and read about the funny stories other wives have to tell about their husbands. For example: MyHusbandIsAnnoying.com is all about a wife’s humorous tales of her husband’s annoying traits, plus guest posts from readers that share their laughable stories as well. See, if you can’t beat those annoying traits why not celebrate them with a good sense of humor?

Funny! It’s nice to be reminded that we wives are annoying too!
