It’s hard enough to eat healthy as an adult, but we all know it’s even harder to get kids to eat a nutritionally balanced diet. They tend to be picky, like the same foods over and over again, and for some odd reason kids instinctively hate vegetables, so healthy eating is a tough challenge for any parent.
Every child is different, no doubt about it. That’s why it takes a village to raise children, a variety of ideas and perspectives that the parents can try and decide what works best for each child of theirs. Now a days, we not only have our peers, friends, and family to rely on for child rearing wisdom, there’s the whole world wide web of bloggers who offer up their experiences for others to glean help from. With many expert kid foodies offering up their wisdom, it’s worth a try to take their advice and see what works for you.
Super Healthy Kids
Amy puts her education in nutrition to work on her kids and shares the results for the blog reading world to enjoy. She writes about recipes that were a hit (or a miss) with her family, how to educate your family about healthy eating, and of course the variety that comes with a blog where you get a mix of current events (health related), giveaways, and fun updates about family life. My favorite: The section dedicated to healthy kid friendly recipes.
The website Super Healthy Kids was created with a mission in mind. Amy saw the need to educate the public about nutrition for children and to better incorporate that knowledge into her own family. She set out to have her whole family eat a diet that was at least half fruits and vegetables. What started out as a blog dedicated to following this goal has also become a website that teaches how to get families eating healthier and living better lifestyles. You’re sure to learn something and find easy ways to get your own family living healthier.
What’s Cooking
Michelle proves that getting kids involved in cooking is an effective way to get them to eat healthier. She teaches cooking classes to kids, whether it’s in a classroom setting or a birthday party, she does it all. She also has two children of her own. Michelle blogs about kid friendly recipes, tips for teaching kids how to cook, how to become more eco-friendly, healthy living in schools, community involvement, and nutritional information. Her blog will help you find the gumption you need to get your kids in the kitchen (instead of just doing it yourself, which we know is ultimately easier) to get them involved in their food, find cooking fun, eat healthier, and even enjoy some quality bonding time.
Your Tips
Amy and Michelle share numerous tips on how to get kids to eat healthier. Do you have any tips to share? What has worked for getting your kids (and even your whole family, including you) to eat healthier?
