L’Oreal’s HIP line offers bright, bold colors for women who aren’t afraid to experiment with their makeup. If you’ve seen this line at the drugstore, you’ll know they’ve become famous for their ultra vivid hues and wild color selections.
I’ve been eager to try their shadow, so I picked up Bright Duos Shadow in Wicked, a combination of a deep purple shadow and a bronze eyeshadow.
Normally, the colors you see in the pot are more vivid than what you’ll actually get, but that isn’t the case with HIP Bright Duos. In fact, the whole point of the HIP line is to create shades that look exactly the same on your face as they do in the container. The shadows are very true to shade, and I was able to create a beautiful smokey eye.
For extra oomph, you can apply the shadow wet for a darker, more dramatic look. I tried this for an evening of drinks and dancing, and I cannot tell you how many times I was complimented on my makeup! I give all the credit to HIP Bright Duos Shadow! These shadows are perfect for an evening out, but they’re too bold for daytime wear (unless you’re really brave!).
What’s more, the staying power of these eyeshadows are quite impressive. I applied them before my evening out and the shadow stayed on through drinks and dancing — lots and lots of dancing! So, I was sweating up a storm, but my eye makeup didn’t budge — how’s that for a perk? I didn’t even get the usual eyeshadow creases I’m used to, so that was a definite bonus.
What’s more, even though I was in the middle of a hot, crowded dance floor, the shadow didn’t smudge a bit. Awesome staying power + no touch ups required = an eyeshadow that won’t be leaving my makeup bag anytime soon!
Overall, I was very pleased with how well these shadows worked. I have very fair skin, so I was a little fearful that the colors would be too bright for me, but they actually look very nice. The deep purple shade even helped accentuate my green eyes — I kept getting compliments all night!
What’s more, they have such a wide range of shades that any woman, regardless of skin tone, will be able to find one that suits her complexion.
I’m eager to try a few other shades in the collection since I had such positive results with Wicked. If you’re looking for an inexpensive, long-lasting eye color and aren’t afraid of a little drama, definitely give L’Oreal HIP Bright Duos Shadow a try. You won’t be disappointed!
