With so many personalized photo gifts on the market, which ones are really going to wow the gift recipient? Some options are just weird, while others make for cherished gifts. Let’s explore the best photo gifts and how to guarantee they will make a long lasting impact.
Professional Photo Book
Everyone wants a family photo album that they love to pull out and show off. The best gift a family member could give to the whole family is that beloved photo album full of pictures and stories. Though why stop at just a simple scrapbook? Creating a professionally printed and bound book that will last for generations is easier than you think. With websites like PhotoWorks, Snapfish, Shutterfly, etc., you can upload your photos, add text, and order multiple copies of the finished book. You would amaze the whole family with this extremely heartfelt gift.
Photo Brag Bag
A personalized photo bag is a great way to display your favorite images while you’re on the go. However, it can be hard to choose just one photo to show off. And then what do you do as time goes on and you have brand new photos you want to share? A bag that doubles as a multiple photo frame is the answer. Often this item is referred to as “Photo Brag Bag.” This type of bag features slots where you can show off your photos and change them out as often as you want. This is the perfect gift for the proud mom or grandmother.
Photo Christmas Ornaments
Who wouldn’t enjoy a Christmas ornament that commemorates a loved memory through a photo? There are so many photo Christmas ornament options available. You can custom order an ornament through a photo printing service or you can buy ornament frames where you simply insert your own photo. Either way, this gift is sure to be treasured and admired every year.
Photo Coasters
Framed photos around the house are an obvious way to display your memories. However, a photo coaster will get a lot of use and become a quick topic of conversation at gatherings. Whether its family portraits, funny snapshots, or images from a beautiful vacation you took together, photo coasters are a unique way to portray fond memories.
Photo Keepsake Box
Do you have a friend or significant other that keeps mementos from everywhere but could use a designated place to keep them? A photo keepsake box is the perfect answer. You can order a box with your favorite photo imprinted on the lid or you can buy a box with a frame slot built into the lid and then simply add your own photo. This is also an excellent way to present a special gift, by placing it within the personalized keepsake box.
Photo Mug
While often seen as a novelty gift, you have to admit the novelty of this gift has more staying power than most. However, it all depends on the photo you choose to put on the mug. While it may be tempting to put a family portrait or baby pictures on it, you have to remember that families change. If you go that route you’ll find yourself wanting to replace that mug every year. Not to mention, it’s kind of weird to drink from your family pictures. However, an option with staying power is to choose a photo that means something to you and the recipient. Perhaps a scenic photo from a special trip you took together, an image of a favorite date location, or a picture of something that relates to an inside joke you share.
Framed Poster Print
This is a gift option you need to be careful with, because if you choose a photo that the recipient isn’t thrilled with, they will feel forced into displaying it. However, a cherished photo turned into a large piece of artwork makes for a stunning gift. Wise options for photos include a wedding picture, a family portrait, beautiful scenery, or even artistic shots from poignant everyday objects (a handmade quilt, the front door, baby items, a glamor shot of a prized first car) or moments (the flowers blooming in spring, baby hands on parent’s hands, a pet portrait) to make for a beloved gift. There are many sizes to choose from, as most photo printing services offer poster sized prints. You could go simple by ordering a typical 8 by 10 or you could be dramatic and make a 20 by 30 poster (as long as the photo has enough resolution to do so). There are plenty of in-between sizes to choose from as well. Don’t forget that the frame is part of the impact. You don’t have to buy an expensive frame, but be sure to present the gift framed and ready to be hung for display.
Whether it’s for family or friends, all of these options can be personalized to your specific relationship. That’s the beauty of giving photo gifts. When done right they are thoughtful and treasured for years.
