When will Target start carrying organic and earth-friendly clothing? I love this store and was excited to see the retailing giant finally introduce reusable bags earlier this year. It’s definitely a first step, but more needs to be done — and not just by Target. Other retailers should make a concerted effort to seek out earth-friendly clothing for the whole family. Children’s clothing is especially important since they sprout through their clothes at such a quick rate.

Instead of getting into your car creating a large footprint, shop at these websites for earth-friendly clothes. Most of them use the United States Postal Service for their delivery needs — the USPS is the only mailing company to obtain Cradle to Cradle Certification*. Express and Priority mail packaging are made out of recycled materials.

Bambino Land Giraffe T

For cute tees and onesies with a green message, visit Zoe and Sprout. Clothes are made from organic cotton and made in an ethical environment in the good ol’ U.S of A.

Bambino Land has fresh clothes and accessories for the little ones. Products are organic, Fair Trade and ethically made.

At Nubius Organics, sustainability is the motto for this central California company. You’ll find items for everyone here: reusable bags, BPA-free bottles, men’s and women’s clothing, kitchen products and children’s clothing populate this site.

For chic organic baby and children clothing and accessories, go to Oscar & Belle. They have everything for the natural baby.

For the hip kid, get clothes from GreenEdge Kids. You’ll see a great selection of clothing made from hemp, bamboo, organic cotton and tencel. GreenEdge Kids ships via UPS.

Obli Organics is full of playful designs that are earth and kid-friendly. You’ll find everything from t-shirts, dresses and onesies. There are even whimsical outfits for the Fido in your family.

A familiar quote graces the front page of Lilly and Loo’s website, “Unless someone like you cares an awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” Taken from Dr. Seuss’s environmental anthem story, The Lorax, the quote relates to the company’s vision of bringing ethical, Fair Trade and sustainable goods to the world. It’s a vision all these companies share.

Great article, I just wish you could walk into any department store and buy organic clothes and at a decent price. Hopefully demand will make that a reality

Hmmm… You’d think they would (*scratches head in confusion*) They are the only mainstream department store that I know of that carries real cloth diapers (not the Gerber prefolds/ burp cloths, lol.)

That seams pretty green to me. Is it that much of a step farther to also carry a decent selection of organic clothing?

Organic cloth seems pretty available online. You could try the old fashioned sew it yourself method if you want. That’s what I’ve been doing.
